Sound like you?  Here’s what you do…

To answer your question, NO you’re not dying and high chances you won’t. As of now there are no known fatalities as a result of a lion fish sting. Though the possibility does exist.

Who knows… you could be the historical statistic.

KIDDING! maybe…

All jokes aside, a victim may experience shock from the intensity of the pain and complications may arise if left untreated.

Getting to the point of the matter;

First response is to call for the emergency medical services. However while you wait for their ” speedy” arrival:

  • One can start by removing any pieces of the spines that may still be in the victim.
  • Control the bleeding.
  • Apply the hottest water the victim can tolerate without causing burns/ scalding.
  • An over- the- counter pain medication such aspirin may be administered if the pain becomes unbearable.
  • Try to keep the wound as clean as possible.

Note: Do NOT apply ice regardless of the amount of swelling. This will only prolong the suffering.
